Symbiosis of geo-data and AI, the next big thing in geoinformatics by Muhammad Hamza Zubair (MSc in Geoinformatics for Urbanised Society)
Geospatial engineer and a seasoned GIS Expert, Muhammad Hamza Zubair is a wonk with a passion for data and possesses expertise in ‘All things Data’, solving puzzles with data to draw conclusions and reveal meaningful insights. He works with 3D data & process automation at EyeVi Technologies. Previously had a distinguished career in geoinformatics in the Middle East and Pakistan with different projects in infrastructure management and urban development.

The transition from an industrial society to an information society led to an explosion in the amount of available data and a sizable percentage of that is in fact, spatial big data. Geospatial artificial intelligence (geoAI) is an emerging scientific discipline that combines innovations in spatial science, artificial intelligence methods in machine learning (e.g., deep learning), data mining, and high-performance computing to extract knowledge from spatial big data.

The Geoinformatics for Urbanised Society master's programme at the University of Tartu stands out not only for the obvious reason that you will learn from the best but also because it will equip you with the industry-ready skills you need. Practical learning, with most courses being taught in practical and studio settings and with different projects throughout the program that will help you build your portfolio. You can select from a variety of research groups conducting cutting-edge research for your master's thesis, depending on your areas of interest.
