Data warehouse modelling using Data Vault 2.0 in fintech companies by Ahmed Samir Imam Mahmoud (MSc in Software Engineering)
Ahmed Samir Imam Mahmoud is from Egypt and graduated from the Software Engineering master's programme in 2021. Before his studies, Ahmed worked in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. During his studies, he was an intern at Swedbank as a software engineer in Group Data Warehouse, where he was promoted to a full-time software engineer. Currently, he is working at Monese as a data engineer.

Building a data warehouse could seem easy with the help of multiple mature methodologies (Dimensional modelling and Inmon). However, building an agile data warehouse with a fast market time and the ability to scale is still a challenge that can be solved with Data Vault 2.0. It provides a unique methodology that provides scalability, traceability, auditability and loading speed with parallel processing. It creates a data warehouse model that focuses on collecting business keys in Hubs objects, the relations between the business entities in Links objects and all the descriptive attributes in Satellites objects.

Ahmed chose the University of Tartu for many reasons but primarily because Estonia is a digital nation focused on IT and software engineering. Being educated in Estonia is very beneficial for one's career, in Ahmed's opinion. He was impressed with every step starting from applying to the programmes to studying at the university in general. The programme teaches students about the technical aspects of software engineering, data science, systems design, modelling and business and management of software projects.
